Town of White Springs

The North Central Florida Regional Planning Council serves as the Official Planning Agency for the state-funded Transportation Disadvantaged Program for Columbia, Hamilton, and Suwannee Counties. The Council is currently seeking volunteer citizen members to serve on the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board.

About the Local Coordinating Board

One of the duties of the Official Planning Agency is to appoint the members of the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board. The local board is composed of local elected officials, state agency representatives, and citizens. The board meets quarterly and provides information, advice, and direction to the community transportation coordinator.

A community transportation coordinator provides paratransit service, funded by the Transportation Disadvantaged Program, to elderly, disabled, and low-income residents for life-sustaining activities such as medical appointments.

Available Citizen Positions

The citizen positions on the local board are:

  • Elderly
  • Disabled
  • Citizen Advocate
  • Citizen Advocate / User

The term of appointment is three (3) years.

Applications are available on the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council website at www.ncfrpc.org/TD/td.html.

Applications for the current appointment cycle are due to the Council by June 1, 2026. Applications are also accepted throughout the year for future cycles.
