Town Manager’s Update — January 2026

From Lee Garner, Town Manager

I want to thank the Council for giving me a longer contract appointing me Town Manager. It is a pleasure to serve the Council and the residents of this great little town of White Springs.

Since June 2025, I am grateful for the many things that have been accomplished in a positive way for the benefit of our residents. We got moved back into Town Hall after a long time being in the trailer. We have obtained new work equipment for the Town crews, and I want to thank each and every Town employee for the job they do to support everyone living in the area and their dedication to duty. Although we are few in quantity, we are many in quality, and I hope you citizens recognize this fact.

I also want to thank all the citizens who volunteer to assist with activities involving the Town and the positive remarks I receive as I get around the various events conducted.

Get Involved

I would like to invite all of you to attend our Town Council Meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM. We also need volunteers to join our various committees and invite those qualified and desiring to qualify for the election coming up in April, with qualifying in March 2026.

We also have a Council vacancy now which we desire to fill at our February 10th Council Meeting. If you are qualified and interested, let us know via email or letter at manager@whitespringsfl.us or at 10363 Bridge Street, White Springs, FL 32096. Please become part of your government.

State Grants

We are waiting on the state legislature to approve several grants this year, unless the Governor gets out his veto pen. If you have the chance to meet with any of our legislative delegation — Senator Simon or Representative Shoals — please ask them to support our requests.

Open Office Hours

I maintain regular office hours and you do not need an appointment to see me. If I am in the office, please feel free to stop in and let’s discuss what is good and bad in our small town.

I know that dilapidated buildings and unkempt yards are a problem, and I ask you again: go across the street, look, and see if you would like to be your neighbor. Let’s get our Town cleaned up — it is the property owner’s responsibility, not the Town’s. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Again, it is a pleasure to have been appointed permanent Town Manager, and I will do everything in my ability to continue to improve the quality of life for our citizens.
